Creating Change
Community legal education
Many people face legal problems alongside health, social and financial challenges. Community Legal Education (CLE) helps by giving people the knowledge and confidence to understand their rights, prevent issues from getting worse, and take action early. CLE also supports gender equality and stronger connections between services and community.
Our CLE sessions are interactive, practical and tailored to meet people where they are. We use plain language, real-life examples, and culturally respectful approaches that value community knowledge and lived experience. Sessions can be designed for community members or service providers, held in Katherine or remote communities, and focused on the topics that matter most to participants.
Advocacy and partnerships
Strong partnerships are at the heart of how we create change. By working closely with community organisations, services and peak bodies, we make sure the voices of women and gender diverse people in Katherine and the Big Rivers are heard, respected and shape decisions that affect their lives.
Through ongoing consultation and collaboration, we share knowledge, identify opportunities, and support each other to build fairer, more inclusive systems. These partnerships extend our reach and impact, making sure that advocacy and law reform are grounded in lived experience and community priorities – because real change comes from listening to the community.
Media
Media is a powerful way to drive change. By sharing stories, insights, and expert commentary, we raise awareness about the legal issues affecting women and gender diverse people in Katherine and the Big Rivers.
Our team works with local, regional, and national media to make sure these voices and experiences are heard.
